Interview: Nicky Youre

If you’ve been on TikTok recently, it’s likely you’ve left humming about sticking your head out a sunroof and blasting your favourite tunes, thanks to Nicky Youre.

His viral song “Sunroof” with dazy is one of the most popular tracks on the entertainment app, clocking over 6.9 million creations to date and translating to 125 million streams across Spotify.

What originally started as an EDM career for the Orange County native has blossomed into a pop trailblaze, with acts like Pink Sweat$ lurking in his followers, as humbly he told me.

Pink Sweat$ like followed me on Instagram a hot minute ago and it’s just like, whoa. Like I used to cover your songs, like when I was learning how to sing,” he said.

With only three singles publicly available and surely most doors in the music industry open for collaboration, we had to find out the next steps for Youre.

We have an EP that’s gonna come out this summer. I’m just teasing things right now on TikTok, so if you’re trying to hear what it possibly might be, you can go there. And then yeah, some shows that I’m gonna be doing which will be really cool,” Youre teased.

Unfortunately there’s nothing booked for Australia just yet, but he’s keen to come down under when he’s “built in the US” with a few more tracks under his belt.

Catch our full chat about his rise to virality, along with a demonstration his unusual party skills that might find their way into an upcoming single in due course.
